I haven’t been to the ocean since a family trip to Brighton Beach in Sussex, England in 1997. I had entirely forgotten how strong the smell of saltwater can be. It’s like an assault on the senses, but a welcome one. I spent a perfect morning on a northeastern beach getting tossed around by the cresting waves and writing words in the sand soon to be washed away by the coming and going of tides.
I should go to more beaches – especially the kind with oceans.
